As Executive Director of The Life Raft Group, Sara Rothschild brings 18 years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the challenges faced in healthcare to The LRG. Sara has grown to be a globally respected patient advocacy leader and works well with a diverse network of stakeholders such as medical key opinion leaders, fellow patient advocates, pharmaceutical industry as well as government authorities. Sara was part of the initial team that supported the first National Institutes of Health in-person clinic for Pediatric GIST patients. She later leveraged virtual technology, enabling medical professionals worldwide to assemble and discuss challenging cases for a Global Virtual Tumor Board program. Sara convened the Pediatric & SDH-Deficient GIST Consortium with the aim of enhancing research efforts and ultimately finding a cure for Pediatric & SDH-Deficient GIST through global collaboration. Since the initiation of this Consortium in 2018, Sara was invited to speak at the Biden Cancer Summit, nine clinical trials were initiated, guidelines were changed, and several data collaborations resulted in publications, posters and congress speaking opportunities. Passionate about working with the patient community, Sara is dedicated to supporting and educating patients about their health choices. She continually identifies innovative strategies to help those living with a rare cancer find access to life-saving treatments.
